7. Quentin Tarantino - Django Unchained

To be fair to Quentin Tarantino, he's generally cast himself well in his own movies, typically in small, punchy, memorable roles that play well to his undeniably limited acting abilities.

But he made a fatal miscalculation when casting himself in not one but two roles in Django Unchained.

The first, as a white supremacist wearing a bag over his head, is absolutely fine, but Tarantino also ended up playing a far more prominent role as an Australian slave trader late in the movie.

The problem here is that Tarantino can't put on an Aussie accent to save his life, and the scene is prolonged enough that it quickly lurches from amusingly terrible into downright toe-curlingly embarrassing territory.

In a film packed with so many great performances it comes off as bewilderingly amateur, not to mention distracting, when Tarantino could've just had his pick of brilliant character actors to do the part justice instead.
