20 Movie Roles That Were Insanely Miscast

5. Tom Holland - Uncharted

Sony surprised a lot of Uncharted fans when they announced that Tom Holland would be playing iconic adventurer Nathan Drake in the big-screen video game adaptation, because of course Nate is in his early 30s in the original video game and ages around a decade across the four main games.

Even though we do see brief glimpses of a young Nate through flashbacks in the series, that's hardly the focus, and so the expectation was that a 30-something actor would be cast for the movie franchise.

Firefly's Nathan Fillion was regularly touted as a strong candidate for the part, even starring in a 2018 fan film to strong acclaim, though given that Fillion was already close to 50 at the time, it's admittedly easy to see why Sony went in another direction.

All the same, Holland is a perfectly solid actor yet not a terribly compelling fit for young Nate, lacking the easy pluckiness and confidence you'd expect from the character even in his nascent days.

It's so overwhelmingly clear that Holland was cast for who he is rather than because he was actually right for the part.
