20 Movie Roles That Were Insanely Miscast

19. Sophie Turner - X-Men: Apocalypse

Though the X-Men franchise has been pretty damn spot-on with most of its casting, there was one glaring exception in the run of prequel films - Sophie Turner as Jean Grey.

Turner has proven herself a perfectly solid actress in Game of Thrones, but she simply wasn't a good fit for Jean Grey at all

For one, she lacked the simmering intensity one would expect from such a character, especially following Famke Janssen's terrific prior portrayal across the original X-Men trilogy.

But the biggest, most foundational issue is that Turner clearly struggled to pull off a convincing American accent in X-Men: Apocalypse, and while she certainly improved it for sequel Dark Phoenix, it still wasn't nearly good enough to not draw attention to itself.

Turner later admitted that she won the Jean Grey role over a "far better actress" - widely believed to be Saoirse Ronan - due to her high number of social media followers, which totally tracks.
