X-Men: Dark Phoenix Costumes Revealed
Xavier's mutants are heading to the nineties.
In a bizarre case of art, imitating art, imitating art again, the costumes for the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix have just been leaked, and they look to be taking inspiration from Frank Quitely's New X-Men designs from the early 2000s. Quitely's designs were, in part, inspired by those worn by the X-Men in Bryan Singer's first X-Men film.
Coming by way of YouTube user vasos de cine cinepolis y cinemex (and reported by Comicbook.com), some newly released merchandise for the movie has confirmed that the team will be donning outfits inspired by Quitely's designs. They look fantastic (as Quitely's pencils always do), but X-Men fans may be disappointed by the fact that the iconic Jim Lee nineties designs teased at the end of Apocalypse won't be carrying over into this one.
In any case, the footage provides a look at figures for the film and a fan-designed poster concept by Fabio Rodrigues too. Among the characters highlighted are Cyclops, Beast, and Sophie Turner's Jean Grey, who's likely to take on a key role in the feature, with the story said to be adapting much of Chris Claremont's seminal Dark Phoenix Saga from the comics.
Dark Phoenix, which was previously set to premiere in November 2018, will release in cinemas everywhere February 2019.
