3. It Looks Better Than The Last Stand

X-Men: The Last Stand was the end of the first X-Men series, and such a massive misstep that Bryan Singer - who stepped away in order to direct Superman Returns - wrote the thing out of continuity.

With this movie taking on the Dark Phoenix Saga as well, there are undoubtedly going to be comparisons, and luckily this does look a step-up from Fox's first effort at tackling the storyline.

There are some similarities, but it at least looks a lot more focused, and indeed it looks like being a step-up from 2016's Apocalypse too. Neither are really saying much, but at least it's a move in the right direction.
