X-Men Apocalypse: 10 Implications For The X-Men Franchise
10. The X-Men Head To The 90s
With X-Men: First Class taking place predominantly in 1962, Days of Future Past in 1973, and now Apocalypse in 1983, it's a pretty safe assumption that the new X-Men trilogy will kick off in the 1990s, edging us closer again to the present day.
X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg has also confirmed that the next X-Men movie will be set in this period, and though he could theoretically be talking about The New Mutants, it just fits that we'd leap another decade for the next proper X-Men movie (even if the character aging is going to be unavoidably ridiculous).
Though the 90s aren't as iconic a decade as the 60s, 70s or 80s, there's still a ton of pop-culture to draw from: maybe we'll see someone playing Street Fighter II or watching Fresh Prince of Bel Air? If Bryan Singer leans into the period setting more than he did in Apocalypse, this could be a ton of fun.
