Zoe Saldana Is Gamora In Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy

By Noel Thorne /

Zoe Saldana is in talks to play Gamora in Marvel Studios€™ Guardians of the Galaxy, says The Hollywood Reporter. The star of Avatar and Star Trek would join cast members Chris Pratt (Star Lord) and Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) in the James Gunn directed space adventure. Gamora, known in the comics as The Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe, is a green-skinned, highly skilled assassin with a healing factor and enhanced speed and strength. An expert martial artist and hand-to-hand combatant, her preferred weapon of choice is a blade called the Godslayer. She€™s also the adopted daughter of Thanos, the grinning figure in the post-credits sequence of The Avengers, which might hint at a possible link between Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2. If Saldana signs up, this will leave just 2 characters of the team left to be cast - Groot, the tree creature, and Rocket Raccoon, the anthropomorphic gun-toting raccoon. Gunn is looking to start shooting in June at Shepperton Studios, England, so expect more casting news soon. Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled for release on 1 August 2014.
