If you've ever tried organizing a hangout or social event, you probably know how hard it is to get people to come to one place. Now imagine doing so with a complete stranger, with an endless list of random servers inside a two-decade-old game, and you get Garry's Mod's infamous "Yes, I am the real Garry!" achievement."

"Yes, I am the real Garry!" is an achievement awarded to those lucky players who have managed to play on the same server as the creator of the game, Garry Newman.

Even when the game had just launched, Garry was making frequent appearances, making the achievement of meeting the real Garry a rare accomplishment. Nowadays, when his appearances become more and more sporadic, it pretty much borders on impossible.

He's basically become a mythical unicorn that appears once in a blue moon to bless the lucky few and then disappears for another indeterminate amount of time. And like hunting a unicorn, Big Foot, or any other fantastical creature, the only thing you're likely to find searching after it is a crushing and resounding sense of disappointment.
