Trials HD is proof that the simplest ideas are often the most addictive. RedLynx's score attack puzzle platformer doesn't need vast continents, millions of side-quests or experience points to get you hooked on its adrenaline-fuelled gameplay. All you have here is one man and a motorbike against some of the most mental obstacle courses your brain can even fathom. Sheer drops, loop-the-loops, explosions and precision timing are what Trials prides itself on making you master through the 'one-more-go' syndrome. Think of it as a relative of the earlier Tony Hawk's games. Both are insanely effective at tapping into your inability to let sleeping dogs lie when it comes to beating your previous score and getting a perfect run without any cock-ups. Time becomes an irrelevant concept in these places. All that matters is generating bigger and bigger numbers to throw up on the leader boards so you can gloat to your mates - when you actually get round to seeing them again - that not answering their calls was worth being in the top 100 players for one single track. Totally worth it.
