10 Amazing Games You Didn't Realise Aged HORRIBLY

7. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Much as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is continually held up as one of the greatest RPGs - nay, video games - ever made, going back to it these days sure isn't easy.

Even accepting the jank expected from just about every single Bethesda-developed RPG, Morrowind is a far clunkier experience than anything the studio has developed since.

From the slow movement speed to the awkward, RNG-infused combat, vague quests, and woeful user interface, Morrowind feels positively ancient compared to, say, Oblivion, to say nothing of the wonky animations, unappealing visuals, and ill-aged sound effects.

Even though the series' passionate modding community has released a ton of quality-of-life mods to make the experience more frictionless, Morrowind is at its core a masterpiece of world-building and atmosphere that just doesn't hold up almost a quarter-century later.

We can only hope that the Oblivion remaster does well enough that Bethesda considers giving Morrowind an update too - though it'd clearly need more than a fresh lick of paint to vibe with modern players.
