Quite possibly the most anticipated announcement in the history of gaming is the long-expected reveal of Half-Life 3, given how the last Gordon Freeman outing, Half-Life: Episode Two, was released over 6 and a half years ago, and left players agonised by a brutal cliffhanger ending. Countless hoaxes have passed us by over the years, and because we're so desperate to believe that Valve actually are working on Half-Life 3 and not just stringing us along, we end up falling for each and every one. Is it likely that Half-Life 3 is in some stage of production? Almost certainly, but whether we'll see it show up anytime soon is anyone's guess: Valve are as characteristically secretive about their projects as ever, and though the wait will likely result in a superior project when it surely, finally comes out, the lack of a word from the company is infuriating to say the least. This is perhaps the only semi-plausible announcement that could allow this E3 to top last year's.
