6. Metroid - Sequence Breaking

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xl9YOIDjCN8 Sequence-breaking has long been a staple of the Metroid games, a collection of glitches that together enhance the game playing experience considerably. The entire basis of the gameplay is collecting various power-ups in a sequence that in turn allows you to progress to the next stage, but by breaking that sequence and collecting them out of order, you are able to not only get some of the game's more important power-ups early, but you can breeze through the game a lot faster. Though the studio did start making an effort to fix these glitches in subsequent games, avid, seemingly unstoppable players still found a way to at least discover a few of them. It's games like this that make a sport out of glitching, presenting the player with an all-new sense of challenge beyond what anyone on either side could possibly have expected. This game, in a sense, gives glitching a good name, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
