Easily one of the slowest bows on the list, The Last of Us' take on the archer's method is perhaps the smoothest shooting experience in the game. All the guns seem to bob in our hands the more we unload, but the arrow pluck takes time, and gives us a massive handicap in the form of a trajectory curve which you cant turn off. Thankfully - perhaps because its so unobtrusive as a UI element - the visible arrow-arc doesnt kill the tension one bit. How else would aiming even work, anyway? Like most of the entries on this list, The Last of Us has a bow that proves crucial for stealth scenarios, as were able to pick off scouts, patrolling bandits and clickers alike without alerting anyone or anything else. In fact, arrows do more damage when enemies don't see them coming. Still, when the goings get violently tough, Joel's bow can put a grown man down in one cold shot, if the aim is true. The arrows in The Last of Us really sink into people and the resultant crumpling of their lifeless bodies is some of the most realistic in gaming, let alone virtual archery. A bit unsettling, sure, but we're always more fascinated by the artistic and technical implications of such lifelike ragdolls. So disturbing, but so pretty.
