Have a little look-see at the image above, do you see anything that looks like a foetus in there? No? Well some people did, and they crafted an entire theory around it.

What you're actually looking at in that Magic Eye-like image is Giygas, EarthBound's final boss. Officially, he's an alien who visited Earth and the source of 'PSI', a telekinetic force that has given humans psychic powers.

Unofficially, his visual appearance is based on that of a human foetus that, many believe, is due to a traumatic event that the game's creator - Shigesato Itoi - experienced as a child, which also influenced the entity's unsettling dialogue.
