10. Rise Of The Ronin

It's easy to understand why Team Ninja's Rise of the Ronin got lost in the shuffle, since it's hard to keep track of all the Asian open world titles that have come out recently. In fact, the developers released a similar hack-and-slash, Wu Long: Fallen Dynasty, only the previous year.

With that said, Rise of the Ronin boasts the most satisfying combat ever seen in a Team Ninja product (which is impressive, considering their track record). Each of the spears, sabres, and katanas have between three to eight combat styles, giving our hero incredible versatility in battle. There's also a heavy emphasis on firearms, allowing you to blast mercenaries with rifles, handguns, and bayonets.

But combat isn't the only thing on offer. RotR contains luscious cities to explore, enthralling missions that allow three-player co-op, and fun travelling methods, including horse-riding, gliding, and grappling (which can double as a long-distance weapon).

It's also worth mentioning that who you ally with or fight against directly affects how the story plays out. Not only does this make each decision more impactful, it encourages multiple playthroughs to experience the narrative fully.

The cluttered map and excessive loot can be irritating, but it's not enough to ruin the experience as a whole.
