10 Best Resident Evil Games You Didn't Play

10. Resident Evil Survivor

Design concepts for the original Resident Evil imagined it as a first person perspective horror game but, as was the way, this was one of many ideas that was cast aside because of limited hardware. Four years later in 2000, Resident Evil released its first ever first-person perspective light-gun offering.

Instead of being a House of the Dead or Time Crisis style arcade affair (that would come later with The Umbrella Chronicles), Resident Evil Survivor tries to ride the line between action and horror.

Whilst you are armed with an infinite ammo handgun, the threat is very real as the game contains a wide roster of fan favourite enemies such as Lickers, Hunters and Tyrants all staring down your barrel. Like the original game, Resident Evil Survivor also features a lot of player choice that affects branching story paths to add replayability.

Also, if you thought the original Resident Evil’s voice acting was something, then you need to experience what Survivor has to offer. Campy ridiculousness aside, Survivor does offer some really interesting and dark story threads to the RE universe about experiments on kidnapped children and a factory that mass produces Mr X Tyrants.

Out of the Resident Evil offerings on PS1, Survivor is unlikely to be anyone’s favourite but if you have nostalgia for that era of the series it’ll definitely scratch that itch.
