10 Best RPGs On Nintendo Switch
7. Pokémon Sword/Shield
Pokémon Sword and Shield were welcome additions to the franchise's rich history.
The game, set in the Galar region (in the UK), is rich with gorgeous rolling countryside and excellent voice acting. It introduced players to varied and interesting new Pokémon which made it exciting to once again venture out on your own and see what the world had to offer. It shook off any cobwebs that the series had and set off on the right foot.
Pokémon Sword and Shield streamlined the gameplay and honed in on exactly what makes the games excellent. By introducing the ‘dynamax’ feature as a replacement for mega evolution and z-moves - and removing one hundred moves from the battle features - the title finds a balance between going back to basics and providing an experience that feels fresh.
Pokémon Sword and Shield may remove some of the franchise's most loved monsters, but the fact that the game never feels lacking is a testament to its brilliance.
Pokémon has always been a perfect entry into RPG games for younger gamers and those that don’t enjoy painful strategy, and Sword and Shield has been its best game in many years.
