Not afraid to start again with nothing, not afraid to hurt those he cares for if it's for the greater good. Big Boss is the greatest soldier who ever lived because he isn't afraid of doing anything, even if it hurts him.

It's either him, Zero or Liquid Ocelot. A lesser of three evils, where perhaps Big Boss is the most righteous of the bunch.
