Whoever put the sign next to the fluorescent purple mushrooms describing them as 'Energizing' should be arrested for negligent product labelling. When the protagonists of this wonderfully weird Game Boy Advance JRPG consume them, they collapse face-first on the floor, and enter a state of shared hallucination (see, psychosis). Hardly the same effect as Red Bull... As you wander round the now-pink forest, you chat with an umbrella that talks about its one-on-one battle with a snake's gastric juices (classic incoherent mad-talk), and must fight a disembodied cycloptic face with a Cheshire Cat grin, which takes on various forms such as zombie mushrooms, and an orangutan with a walrus face. All these battles are fought against a trippy lava-lamp background that looks like it's come straight out of a 60s hepcat's living room (hallucinogenics were very big back then). It's the last thing you'd expect from a seemingly innocuous GBA game, though Mother 3 also contains some strong references to alcoholism.
