5. Samus Aran Becomes A Metroid - Metroid Dread

In the Metroid series, Samus Aran has been tasked with eliminating the energy-absorbing Metroids from the galaxy.

Although she seemingly accomplished her mission, the antagonist of Metroid Dread, Raven Beak, points out there is still one Metroid left - Samus herself. Because she used a Metroid's power to defeat the Mother Brain during the events in Super Metroid, our fearless heroine unknowingly absorbed the parasite's DNA. Knowing the power that lies within Samus, Raven Beak intends to create a clone army of Metroids, allowing him to conquer the cosmos.

Despite her best efforts, Samus finds herself unable to best Raven Beak in battle. Just as the corrupted Chozo is about to finish her, Samus' Metroid genes activate, endowing the bounty hunter with enough strength to destroy her rival.
