10 Bullsh*t Video Game Deaths You Just Had To Live With
10. Lisa Trevor - Resident Evil
Over the
years, the Resident Evil franchise has treated us to the sight of a huge array
of different mutated, slavering, hungry, lumpen beasts. You have to wonder how
the heck Capcom designs some of these monstrosities.
Here’s the rub, though: Umbrella Corp’s gastly experimentations were to blame for most of this, meaning that there’s a tragic backstory behind these very human 'monsters.' Perhaps saddest of all in this regard is the story of Lisa Trevor.
Lisa was kidnapped by Umbrella and subjected to years of hideous experiments with the Progenitor virus. The torture was so prolonged and extensive that her mind and body were both warped beyond recognition. The player encounters her several times throughout the Resident Evil Remake, as the quintessential you-can’t-harm-it-so-just-run-away boss before the final tragic encounter.
In the basement, the player must evade Lisa in a tight area while pushing four rocks over the edge of the small platform. Doing so will open the coffin containing Lisa’s mother’s skeleton. When she sees it, what remains of her humanity kicks in: she grabs her mother’s skull and leaps over the edge into the abyss.
This isn’t the end of Lisa, though: she survives and later battles Wesker, who traps her in the mansion until the explosion that finally puts her at peace.
