Theres this weird trend with commercials these days where if the company in question dont get what they want, they simply produce a cheap copy instead. Theres tons of examples of adverts that have tried to license certain songs, the band have turned them down, and instead theyve just hired a soundalike thats basically the same tune, only with different lyrics. Pretty cheeky. The stranger development is when adverts hire what are essentially lookalikes to endorse products when they cant get the real thing, as was the case with American clothing store Old Navys "Super C-U-T-E" campaign, starring actress Melissa Molinaro as a woman being hounded by the paparazzi wherever she goes. Whilst dressed in Old Navy, obviously.The problem was that Molinaro bore a striking resemblance to Kim Kardashian, somebody who isnt averse to the odd endorsement and is also used to being followed by tabloid photographers. The similarities were pretty obvious to anybody paying attention, with Kardashian filing a $20 million lawsuit for violating her "right to publicity".
