4. The Legend Of Zelda: The Twilight Princess - Ganondorf Was Behind Everything (Again)
Make no mistake, the Legend of Zelda games are awesome and massively fun. But if we were to break each major Zelda game down into its basic elements, it would be Ganondorf has stolen the triforce of power, Link (and occasionally, Zelda) must stop him by going on a massive fetch quest. Quite frankly, this repetition of the basic Ganondorf is evil narrative would bother us if it werent for the sheer brilliant gameplay of each Zelda game. Thankfully, the Twilight Princess changes things up by throwing the psychotic and sinister Zant at us. He is calm, collected, and yet he is also cunning, ruthless, and manipulative. Not only did he usurp the throne off Midna, he has shown that he has actual brains underneath that weird mask of his. If Hans Landa were thrown into a video game world, Zant would be the result. Unfortunately, this refreshing change of scenery drops off right at the end. As Zant lies defeated, out from the shadows comes Ganondorf. That's right, Ganondorf was behind the whole thing and Zant was a mere insane puppet putting on a facade. Look, Ganondorf is an all-time great bad guy, but by having him appear in the Twilight Princess undoes all of Zant's awesome characterisation and robs players of what shouldve been one of the games best antagonists.
