10 Classic Movies That Should Have Been Video Games

1. Seven Samurai

Akira Kurosawa€™s masterpiece is a staple of cinema. The movie concerns the efforts of the eponymous seven samurai to fend off a small army of bandits terrorizing a local town. The first three-fourths of the movie are slow buildup€”sprinkled with some action sequences here and there€”followed by an exhilarating showdown between the bandits and the samurai. But how would that much buildup and so €œlittle€ action translate to a video game? How to do it: During the production of the movie, Kurosawa kept six notebooks filled with biographies about each of the characters and minute details about them. There€™s a wealth of story there that could probably be used to create a game with a Witcher 2/Assassin€™s Creed combat system. Set up a frame story with the characters swapping tales of their exploits with each story forming the basis for a level or series of levels. Throw in well-designed tower defense gameplay sequences for when the Samurai are defending the village, and you have potential for a worthy video game adaptation of one of the greatest films ever made.
