Technically, there have been three Akira games released since the movie€™s debut back in €™88. The first was a poorly reviewed €œvisual novel,€ the second a rather drab looking dodge-the-obstacle game, and the third bizarrely enough was a 2002 pinball game for the Playstation 2. What is arguably the most famous anime film of all time is still in need of a quality video game adaptation, especially when one takes into consideration just how cool Neo-Tokyo would be as a setting. How to do it: Go the JRPG route. Perhaps present the film€™s story from the perspective of several playable characters (Tetsuo, Kadena, Shikishima). A dynamic and engaging battle system would be a necessary for this game in order to keep it from falling into the bargain bin with the rest of the mediocre or worse licensed titles.
