It comes to something when what is such a controversial moment as Grand Theft Auto V i.e the torture scene, is verging on being old news, but I was personally more shook up by Trevors implied mutilation of subsidiary characters Floyd and Debra. I did already cover this somewhat in my Reasons I Hated Trevor piece, but sufficed to say many critics and those who have played the game thoroughly are picking up on this additional scene of barely-explainable horror. For those not in the know, GTA Vs third main character Trevor is forcing his presence on the cousin of a friend, to which after undergoing multiple life-threatening missions he is forcibly asked to leave. Trevor refuses and rather than Rockstar choosing to show what happens in the following confrontation, we then cut to Trevor leaving the accommodation covered in blood. Its an image that has stuck with me more than the overblown nature of the torture scene, partially due to that cutaway being timed perfectly, as well as throughout my interaction with Floyds character I felt increasingly sorry for him, only to then meet his end at the hands of a psychopath the game then wants you to embody.
