10. Herobrine Controlled By A Gamer's Dead Brother - Minecraft

This urban legend follows a Minecraft gamer who was only just starting out and was trying to make sense of the world around them. Due to the game's low-resolution graphics, they thought they saw a cow in the distance, but as they approached they realised it was another person named Herobrine, who quickly scampered away. Despite not being in multiplayer mode, Herobrine kept appearing.

In order to get to the bottom of this, the gamer posted on numerous forums asking whether anyone else encountered Herobrine. Every time he posted, it would be taken down within moments until eventually, they got a message from Herobrine themselves simply saying "Stop".

A fellow gamer reached out to them and said that the game's developer, who went by the name Notch, would frequently use that name when he played. After more forum posts, they found out that it wasn't Notch, but his brother who used that alias. The gamer emailed Notch to ask about his brother. Notch responded by saying he did indeed have a brother who would play by that name, but he was no longer alive.
