Everything is €“ or wants to be €“ an open world experience. I guess the problem is games are so damn expensive now-a-days, gamers want to have a title that reflexes the forty to fifty quid they just spent. So titles are spread like a small amount of butter on a sizable slice of toast, developers knowing full well that they aren€™t able to cover the entire thing, so you€™re left with a mere hint of the taste that may have been. What I find truly laughable is when a game tries to fool us by wearing the attire of an open world experience when underneath the side missions and the invisible walls, hinds a thin, scared linear physique. There€™s nothing wrong with linear games mind, just because your campaign isn€™t running into the double digits doesn€™t mean gamers will hate it, as long as it€™s had some conviction put into it. In my opinion, I think the more consoles hardware improves, the more developers jump on the open world bandwagon until the damn thing falls off its hinges and the few good titles are having to painstakingly push a broken concept.
