10 Disastrous Video Games That Lost Their Creators Millions

The Driver series is a bit of an unsung hero of the video games scene. It in many way started the formula that GTA III came along and admittedly did much better, offering players an open world to drive around in, and vehicles to steal as they pleased. Driver 3 had the misfortune of being released soon after GTA III, which revolutionsed open-word gaming and completely redefined peoples' expectations of similar games. Suffice to say that Driver 3 just didn't match these lofty expectations. But beyond that, Driver 3 just wasn't very good, with a laughable three-hour story campaign, awkward controls, and shoddy shooting mechanics. In its defence, Driver 3 looked pretty damn good, but that's the least you'd expect for a game that cost $50 million to make. The game sold a not-bad two million worldwide, but the fact that Atari reported losses of $16.9 million in the six months after its release, puts into perspective just how badly it tanked.
