10 Disastrous Video Games That Lost Their Creators Millions

9. Sonic Boom

Sonic seems to be the franchise that just won't die. Or maybe it's more fitting to say that both it and he died long ago, but continues to be paraded around by Sega, who are hoping that no one notices the cute blue hedgehog is actually a dried-up corpse. Sonic Boom was made on a $20 million budget last year, making it the most expensive Sonic game ever. It was also the worst-rated and most commercially unsuccessful Sonic too, not helped by being a Wii U exclusive and being particularly awful when it came to attempting some semblance of speed. Taking away the pace and dynamism that made the series popular, only to replace it with tedious puzzle-solving and awful level design - maybe this game will finally make Sega realise that Sonic is in urgent need of retirement. Honestly, who would want to play as that soulless crew pictured above?
