10 Dream Star Wars Games And Who Should Develop Them
4. An Open World RPG - Bethesda
Although they’re regularly criticized for releasing buggy games, or for slacking off in the scriptwriting department, it’s hard to argue that Bethesda aren’t at the top of their game when it comes to creating expansive open world environments.
There are very few franchises that couldn’t fit Bethesda’s open world RPG mould, so versatile and adaptable is the formula.
It's odd then, that nobody has ever attempted to create a true, open-world Star Wars game. Knights of the Old Republic had some rich, lively hub worlds, but you couldn't pick out a faraway location on your map, walk there on foot, and return with the head of a Sith Lord.
Just like The Elder Scrolls universe, Star Wars is made up of lots of varied species, cultures and factions, and the series lends itself well to customisation and exploration. If you wanted to be an archetypal soldier character, you could invest time and experience in developing your heavy armour proficiency and your skills with a blaster rifle.
Alternatively, you could opt for a quintessential Jedi playthrough, focusing on developing Force powers and lightsaber combat. Or you could go full maverick, rising up as the sneaky, weapon-smithing, Force-wielding, blaster-toting King/Queen of the Ewoks.
