9. Improved Controller Battery Life

Battery life is a sore subject for any device these days. With the majority of our population carrying around mobile phones that offer little more than a day€™s regular use, the question is asked whether any mass-produced battery can support the increased functionality of advanced machines.

Sadly the Dualshock 4 also suffers a very disappointing battery capacity, especially compared to its reliable predecessor with the PS3. The Dualshock 4 has tested as low as half of the maximum battery capacity compared to the Dualshock 3, which is staggering given this device is supposed to be a step forward.

Several commentators have considered the possibility that the current device€™s LED light between the triggers accounts for a large amount of the wasted energy. If this is the case then recent moves to allow for this light to be dimmed could provide some help to stop the battery depleting so quickly. A more substantial solution, however, would simply be for the developers to commit to researching a better battery option for future batches of the device.

It may be an unpopular task €“ just ask Apple €“ but finding a more suitable battery option to extend the Dualshock 4€™s usage would be a massive step in improving the console€™s overall experience.
