If there's one phrase that can be used to describe SotC and Ico, it would be "ahead of their time". For games that were released on the PS2, they was well ahead of their competitors in terms of graphics. In fact, their graphics were hindered by the technology of the PS2 not being strong enough. Unlike other games of the genre which rely heavily on player interaction with NPCs, SotC put you into a massive open world with your only companion being your horse. Even in Ico, you're trapped in a massive castle with only a girl for companionship; there are no villages or towns, there are no other allies. Although both games would not appeal to many of today's gamers who require action packed games, they both still have a large die-hard fan base. The emotional experience you go through when playing the games is only out-weighed by the enjoyment of defeating the last colossus or escaping the castle, though this enjoyment is short-lived when you reach the end of both games. Although The Last Guardian is not an exact sequel to both games, it is still part of the trilogy, though when it will be released is anyone's guess. Will Team Ico give us more information on the game in 2013, or can we expect a completely different sequel to be announced?
