Few video game levels are more infamous in their rage-quit-inducing qualities than the Dam from the 1989 NES game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Underwater levels are a common sticking point given their tendency to force the player into a scenario with unfamiliar physics and treacle-like controls.

But there's nothing like the Dam from TMNT.

Players are tasked with disarming a series of bombs set to the destroy the dam, while avoiding electrified fences, aggressive marine life that will kill you with a few hits, ridiculously tight paths, and a time limit of just 140 seconds.

It is video game bulls**t at its most aggressive and contemptuous, and so impossibly difficult that most players just threw in the towel and moved on with their lives.
