4. Rain World

Videocult

Taking on the role of a nomadic 'slugcat', players in Rain World will find themselves positioned centrally in a broken ecosystem. As predator to some but prey to many, the player's spear-wielding hero will embark on a perilous journey across abandoned, rusting landscapes in search of sustenance and survival.

For every creature out there that can be preyed upon, however, there are just as many who'll be eying your slugcat as a tasty meal for themselves. Having players balance their survival across two positions in this habitat will lead to a great challenge; the last thing you'll want to do is be picked off by some swooping beast after having stalked your own dinner for minutes waiting to strike.

Rain World features the kind of depressing backdrops that were successful in games like Limbo and Badland, but it adds a vertical element to these. Players movement in Rain World will be greater and freer than with either of these other examples, allowing your tactics as both hunter and hunted to make use of all manner of vantage points and escape routes.
