This heading and the next are going to be markedly similar. Command and Conquer sets itself apart because of the sheer complexity of what is required of the player. In one aspect the player is asked to take part in a futuristic fantasy about varying philosophies and social concerns painted in pretty broad strokes. On top of that the player is asked to maintain resources in order to engage in battles across key arenas in a protracted war. The not so subtle political overtones take some of the bite away from the resource management aspect as much as the actual games mechanics do. But the games popularity as the go to RTS says a lot about putting an ultimately forgiving spin on capitalism. I mean the game almost literally says, Yeah we know were bad, but look at the alternative. Communism, the alternative is Communism (Just in case it wasnt obvious in EVERY ASPECT of the game).
