4. Pey'j - Beyond Good & Evil
Despite being a commercial bust, 2003's action-adventure game Beyond Good & Evil is enough of a revered cult classic to have a big-budget AAA sequel currently in development.
The original game ends with protagonist Jade destroying the antagonistic alien force known as the DomZ, seemingly concluding things on a relatively concrete happy note.
Except, the post-credits scene reveals that, back on Jade's home planet of Hillys, her porcine uncle Pey'j has grown a DomZ spore out of his hand, suggesting that the fight is far from over, and Pey'j might not be faring so well after all.
It's a cliffhanger that's tortured the fanbase for the better part of two decades, and worse still, even the upcoming "sequel" likely won't resolve it, because it's actually a prequel. Bugger.
