10 Gaming Industry Issues That Must Die With This Generation

10. Moving Away From Physical Media

Physical media is by no means perfect, but it allows us to hold and own something that could otherwise just be taken away on a whim.

There's nothing quite like it, to be honest. Knowing that unless YOU damage, lose or sell the thing you own, no one can truly take it away from you.

And if you've recognised the above image, you know exactly where this is going.

Because recently, game companies have been releasing more and more games exclusively through their online stores. And PC games have all but abandoned physical media altogether in favor of selling online.

Of course, the main problem here is that if - for whatever reason - that store cannot sell that game anymore, pretty much everyone is screwed.

P.T. was set to be the demo for the next Silent Hill game, with an all-star dev team and voice cast. Then, completely on a whim, Konami shut down the project and rescinded the demo from online availability.

The move away from physical media is bad for pretty much everyone. You might love Persona 5, but if the apocalypse happens (which is unfortunately a LOT more likely than that hyperbole suggests) unless you got the actual disk, you're gonna be stuck with 4 and 3. Forever.
