Now consider that Youtube was only founded in 2005 and didnt really find any traction until at least 2008. Video gaming, as we know it today, started in 1947. Almost 70 years ago, based around technology used to identify incoming missiles in World War Two, the first video game was issued. A simple dot on a cathode ray tube monitor, that could be destroyed, or would destroy you. Humble beginnings for what is quickly becoming the largest monetary industry in the world. Since then, trillions of hours of video games have been released, with the rate of release skyrocketing over the last two decades. Now, it is quite conceivable to make your own games at home in a matter of days using something as simple as the Unity engine, and release it online for potentially millions of users download and play. It would be extremely easy to get lost in the tornado of content now available with a simple search online, but across the years there have been some moments that truly made gaming. Moments that most of us will know, and cherish the memories of. Moments that may seem just as powerful today, covered in the gentle patina of nostalgia.
