10. Azar Javed - The Witcher

Azar Javed is the main villain of the first Witcher game—an ambitious and highly dangerous wizard who steals the witcher mutagens at the beginning of the story to create an army of mutants.

As you would expect of a cunning mage, Javed often utilizes deception and other elements of intrigue to further his goals. In fact, in the second act of the game, he takes on a clever disguise to directly spy on you.

As Geralt investigates the Salamandra activity in Vyzima, he teams up with a local detective named Raymond Maarloeve.

Or rather, he teams up with his adversary, pretending to be his friend.

Although at the beginning of Geralt’s work with Raymond, the detective is the real deal, shortly after, Raymond is killed by Javed. The mage takes the detective's form to spy on Geralt and see what the witcher has learned about his plan.

This twist is revealed at the end of Act II. You can technically call out Javed’s illusion with the right dialogue options earlier, but this will cause the wizard to kill you on the spot, as he’s a pretty bad sport when it comes to spoiling his plans.
