The loquacious, charming president of the Hyperion Corporation is also a pathological narcissist with a terminal saviour complex, adding up to a hilariously volatile cocktail that means we could listen to Jack rabbit on for hours and hours.

Jack steals just about every scene he's in, largely due to a sublime performance from Dameon Clarke, and ultimately Jack is at least as recognisable as central heroes like Lilith and Claptrap, if not more so.

A heightened parody of a scumbag CEO that still feels entrenched in the realities of late-stage capitalism back on planet Earth, Handsome Jack is a villain who loves being evil even more than he loves profits.

Given that Jack ultimately became a fan favourite character, it's not remotely surprising that Gearbox has admitted struggling with his characterisation, of knowing where to drawn the line between humour and seriousness.
