Widely considered to be one of the very best titles available on the PSP, Patapon appears to be an innocent rhythm game with a richly coloured, silhouetted, two-dimensional art style. However, things start to become a bit more militaristic when you examine the games title which was created from two Japanese onomatopoeia pata (marching) and pon (drumming). Though the little minions at your control seem adorable, they are actually the invading villains who are ruthlessly marching on peaceful lands in an attempt to commit a genocide to honour the religion which they all fanatically worship. The Patapons remorselessly wiped out the Karmens and all the Zigotons and did it while seeming like the good guys to many gamers. It should come as little surprise that the developers attempted to tone down the malevolence of the Patapons in the two subsequent games, introducing the Seven Evil Archfiends to act as a more obvious source of evil.
