10. Typhon Items - Prey

Prey is an underrated immersive sim in which you try to survive on a space colony infested with mysterious alien creatures known as Typhon.

The design of these aliens is utterly disturbing, but their true form isn't actually what's going to terrify you the most. 

That would be your average office junk scattered throughout Pytheas's base.

Everything from a pencil to even a sheet of paper can be secretly a Typhon masquerading as a prop to ambush you. Yes, the aliens are expert shapeshifters, and the game makes this pretty obvious early on by showing you a group of scientists being massacred by what seems like a regular mug.

Because of this, you can never be sure if an item you're approaching will be a simple object or a deadly predator. The only point of reference you have are post-it notes that some unnamed hero had the foresight to put on a few items on the station to let you know they aren't a Typhon mimic.

Still, not every object is labeled, so every time you interact with a bare cup or office utensil, you're risking getting ripped apart by an alien.
