10 Hidden Gem Star Wars Games You Need To Play
10. Rebel Assault 2: The Hidden Empire
One of the first Star Wars media properties to feature live actors since Return of the Jedi is a strange little game indeed.
Part on-rails shooter, part space combat sim reminiscent of the Rogue Squadron series, this PlayStation and Windows game strives to achieve much within the limits and confines of 90s technology, but isn’t quite able to achieve its grand vision.
While the acting was never going to win any awards, and the plot was as convoluted as it was confusing, the gameplay redeems these failings to some extent. With some genuinely enjoyable shooting sections complimented by tense and rousing space combat set-pieces - all accompanied by the famous John Williams fanfare - there is plenty to enjoy.
These factors lend the game that distinct Star Wars-y feel, which is often the key factor in middle of the road games like this, no matter how campy they seem with nearly 25 years’ hindsight.
Is it perfect? Of course not, but you should check this one out for a blast of Star Wars retro action if you‘re after something a little different.
