As his most accomplished and simply biggest game yet, Platinum Games' developed NieR: Automata is a 30 hour dissection of what it means to be human... done through the lens of sexy anime ladies with massive swords, slicing the living daylights out of everything.
It'll take you three full runthroughs of the game to get the full picture (the first two deal with the same characters, only for Route C to blow everything wide open), though along the way the signature Platinum combat makes it all a total breeze.
Not to mention, the way this blends together side scrolling, top-down shooting, flying sections and standard hack n' slash gameplay all by moving the camera and maintaining a universal control scheme is phenomenal. Solidifying Platinum as the maestros of all things action-related in gaming, it only makes you wonder where they can possibly go from here.
