It's that time of the year again where following a couple of months of downtime (read: A barren wasteland, save for Pokémon GO), the industry kicks back into gear, shovels a few mounds of coal into the production fires, and cranks out game after game from here to Christmas.

Feel free to check the breakdown of every major title over here, but what of those titles that run fear of falling by the wayside? The ones that can't command the spotlight quite as much as the likes of Gears of War 4, Watch Dogs 2 or The Last Guardian?

Gaming as a medium is so humungous at this point, everything from triple-A World War shooters like Battlefield 1 can sit right next to 'walking simulators' like Virginia, however, it does create the conundrum of keeping track of it all. So, in the pursuit of providing you with which little-known titles are worth your time, I've compiled some of my favourites.

10. World Of Final Fantasy

Square Enix

What Is It?

A return to turn-based Final Fantasy (FINALLY!), one where the story revolves around a brother/sister combo exploring a land populated by all the main characters and monsters from every other popular entry in the series.

Think Kingdom Hearts' remixing of various properties with a central protagonist, and layer on a stupidly cute chibi style. It's ostensibly a love letter to the fans and franchise overall - the other side of the coin to Final Fantasy XV's more action-heavy aspirations.

Why Should I Care?

If you played any of the first 10 Final Fantasies, you already will. I mean just look at it - everyone from Cloud to Tidus, Sephiroth to Squall make an appearance, both as interactive characters and summons in battle.

The upgrade tree is very similar to that of FF X's sphere grid (commonly referred to as one of the finest character evolution menus ever), combat is refreshingly old school and that art style easily gives Dragon Quest a run for its money. World of Final Fantasy is awash in a self-aware tonality that lets our characters dance between so much beloved material, and it's sure to be overflowing in pure nostalgia.
