The Earliest entry on the list doesn’t actually put you in the boots of a human, augmented or otherwise. Fire Warrior sees the player taking on the role of a Tau Fire Warrior named Shas'la Kais. The game initially has the Imperium of Man taking the role of antagonist before Kais must team up with them to take on the true enemy, the powers of Chaos.

Taking the form of a first person shooter, Fire Warrior has Kais taking on everything from Imperial Guard and Space Marines to Chaos Dreadnoughts and Daemon Princes. Being a Tau warrior who is about the size of an average human shows the true frightening scale of these threats.

The game set out to be a Halo killer with posters and magazine ads proclaiming “Who needs Halo?” However the game was released to a lukewarm response. If you’re looking for a 40K first person shooter from the rare non-human perspective; this is worth a look.
