10. Hahaha - Dirty Harry

Dirty Harry is a 1990 side-scrolling NES game that probably would have become completely forgotten if it wasn't for its genuinely brilliant troll secret that was definitely ahead of its time.

Although the title graphics are primitive pixels and the controls are incredibly clunky, Dirty Harry contains an innovative (for its time) secret room that can trap the player inside!

Throughout the game, you can find special rooms with items that replenish your stats. Because of this, it seems wise to make a beeline for these rooms as soon as you spot them, but the game actually has a random chance to turn one of them into a game-ending disaster.

If you're very unlucky, when you enter a special room, you can be greeted by a bunch of hahahas written on the wall instead of the regular reward. This means that you have stumbled into a secret death room that traps you inside with no exit, giving you no other choice but to reset the game and start over.

The secret is absolutely brutal, but at the same time, given how simple the game is, it's pretty commendable that the developers managed to program such an elaborate way to mess with you.
