This time last year, it seemed incredibly unlikely that a new Call of Duty would ever be considered mandatory playing for console owners. Miraculously though, Sledgehammer Games pulled it out of the bag, releasing the best Call of Duty game in years. Far from the dull turd that was Ghosts, the latest entry breathes new life into the franchise by introducing the Exoskeletons. These Exos give players far more freedom of movement, allowing for double jumps, boost dodging and ground slams. It turns out that this is exactly what the Call of Duty series needed, and the classic COD gunplay is brilliantly complimented by the futuristic gizmos. The campaign is good, brainless fun, although no game in the series has yet gotten close to the fantastic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Additionally, Advanced Warfare is still undergoing issues with the connectivity in matchmaking, so it could be worth holding off to make sure this stuff is sorted before rushing out to buy the game.
