10 Moments That Saved Dead Video Games
Sometimes miracles do happen and once dead games suddenly come back to life!
One of the biggest shames of modern gaming is when a game that you and your friends have played, loved and dedicated a boat-load of time to finally comes to an end. Be it through a combination of dwindling interest, poor handling by the developers or even that it simply didn't find an audience from day-one, there are many reasons why a game can die a premature death.
But similarly, there's also a whole host of reasons that they can miraculously rise from the dead. It certainly doesn't happen very often but when it does, oh my is it something truly special that only certain subsets of fans can truly appreciate.
The games featured here today are examples of titles that were either on the verge of, or had already shuffled off their mortal coils bur were miraculously saved from the afterlife by some form of divine intervention.
Well, that's if you'd consider a new season of a hit show being released, or the developers basically scrapping and remaking the entire game from scratch as divine intervention - which fortunately for you, we do!
10. Next-Gen Ports - Warframe
Can you believe that Warframe has been in our lives for twelve years now? Releasing way back in 2013 to a mixed reception the game has gone on to become a highly popular and addictive experience that's won over the hearts and minds of many.
Although it wasn't always sunshine and roses for Warframe, quite far from it.
From its initial announcement the game drew a lot of criticism and comparison to other titles, with particular bile being aimed at its free-to-play model which was considered a risky move at the time. This did deter the developers at Digital Extremes however who continually supported the game after launch with numerous expansions, in spite of a relatively small player base.
This all changed however when the game was ported to current-gen systems. Some tend to attribute this to the PS5 and Series S consoles having small lacklustre libraries at launch, so a free-to-play game with an established player base was exactly the kind of thing that would catch the eyes of early adopters.
The game's success has only continued from there, with futher expansions and a consistently high number of players keeping the game alive and kicking after all these years.
